毫无疑问，中国已成为世界上最重要的实物黄金市场，它既是黄金的头号生产国，也是第一消费大国和全球最大的黄金进口国。在某种程度上，中国的黄金市场备受瞩目，它与黄金价格走势息息相关。中国有着根深蒂固的黄金文化，本文将回顾中国自建国至今成为世界领先黄金国家的发展历程，解读中国黄金市场的基本面。
伴随着国内黄金产量高企的是中国强劲的黄金需求。从近十几年的统计来看，中国黄金的需求占全球黄金需求的比例整体呈上升趋势。
同样地，虽然中国的高储蓄率预计将会下降，但是巨额公众储蓄将只会由于经济扩张而越聚越多。这意味着，黄金投资需求将有大量的增长空间。只有出现严重的经济衰退(或许是受到严重影响经济增长的“信贷泡沫”破灭)，才会使中国经济和黄金需求的积极前景出现不明朗因素。
虽然中国黄金产量增长可能趋于放缓趋势，但其目前仍是最大的黄金生产和消费国。
