Four things to watch this week (Week of 21 August)
1. Flash purchasing managers (#PMI#) - Australia, Japan, Eurozone, UK, and US (23 August 2023, Wednesday): Previous readings saw further weakening in the PMI data across the board, notably with manufacturing activities dipping further into contractionary territory.
2. Jackson Hole Economic Symposium (24-26 August 2023): Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech will be in the spotlight, following fresh updates on US inflation and labor market data released after the previous #FOMC# meeting.
3. Japan’s Tokyo #CPI# (25 August 2023, Friday, 7.30 am SGT) - Generally looked upon as a leading indicator for the nationwide inflation trend, the upcoming Tokyo CPI will be on watch next week to provide a first glimpse into the pricing situation for August.
