Aktivitas bisnis di sektor manufaktur AS terus mengalami kontraksi dengan kecepatan yang meningkat pada bulan Juli, dengan ISM Manufacturing PMI menurun menjadi 46,8 dari 48,5 pada bulan Juni. Angka ini lebih rendah dari ekspektasi pasar sebesar 48,8.

Indeks Ketenagakerjaan survei PMI menurun tajam menjadi 43,4 dari 49,3,1 pada bulan Juni, sementara Indeks Pesanan Baru turun menjadi 47,4 dari 49,3. Terakhir, Indeks Harga yang Dibayar, komponen inflasi, naik menjadi 52,9 dari 52,1 pada periode yang sama.

Mengomentari temuan survei tersebut, "Aktivitas manufaktur AS mengalami kontraksi yang lebih dalam. Permintaan kembali melemah, produksi menurun, dan input tetap akomodatif secara umum," kata Timothy R. Fiore, Ketua Komite Survei Bisnis Manufaktur Institute for Supply Management (ISM).
