Bahagyang humina ang kumpiyansa ng mga mamimili sa US noong unang bahagi ng Oktubre, kasama ang paunang Consumer Sentiment Index ng University of Michigan na bumababa sa 68.9 mula sa 70.1 noong Setyembre. Ang pagbabasa na ito ay dumating sa ibaba ng inaasahan ng merkado na 70.8.
Ang Index ng Kasalukuyang Kondisyon ay bumaba sa 62.7 mula sa 63.3 at ang Consumer Expectations Index ay bumagsak sa 72.9 mula sa 74.4.
Ang mga detalye ng survey ay nagpakita na ang isang taong inflation expectation ay tumaas sa 2.9% mula sa 2.7%, habang ang limang taong inflation outlook ay bumaba sa 3% mula sa 3.1%.
