Thư ký báo chí của Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump, Karoline Leavitt, cho biết vào cuối ngày thứ Ba rằng kế hoạch áp đặt thuế quan trừng phạt đối với Canada và Mexico vào ngày 1 tháng 2 vẫn đang được thực hiện.
Ban đầu, Trump hứa sẽ áp đặt thuế quan 25% trên diện rộng để đáp lại điều mà ông gọi là sự thất bại của cả hai quốc gia trong việc kiểm soát dòng chảy bất hợp pháp của người và ma túy qua biên giới.
