某氏园中，有古木，鹊巢其上，孵雏将出。一日，鹊徊翔其上，悲鸣不已。顷之，有群鹊鸣渐近，集古木上，忽有二鹊对鸣，若相语状，俄而扬去。未几，一鹳横空而来，“咯咯”作声，二鹊亦尾其后。群鹊见而噪，若有所诉。鹳又“咯咯”作声，似允所请。鹳于古木上盘旋三匝，遂俯冲鹊巢，衔一赤蛇吞之。群鹊喧舞，若庆且谢也。盖二鹊招鹳援友也。
